David Pettey

We’re thrilled to introduce David Pettey, our newest team member! He’ll be the first developer to officially join the ranks of the Fivestone team, and we’re so happy to have him. Find out more about him below:

David Pettey

WHO ARE YOU?

The name’s David. I was born in Nashville and raised just south of it. I attended MTSU, and after several major changes in the first year (most of them unofficial), my mother convinced me to take a computer science course. It was love at first compileĀ and I graduated 3 and a half years later. However, if you saw me on the street, you probably wouldn’t guess I knew anything about computers, which can be attributed to the fact that I spend just as much time behind a computer as I do training and coaching Olympic Weightlifting. And while the two may seem completely unrelated, it’s pretty amazing what you can make the body do when you look at it with a mathematics and physics-based mindset.

WHY FIVESTONE?

Well.. at first, they needed a developer, and I needed a job, so we were fit like two peas in a pod. But after a very short while of working at Fivestone, I came to realize it has the best work atmosphere of any place of employment I’ve ever seen. Moreover, I find it’s much more enjoyable to be around people who are inspired and love what they do — which is exactly what the people who work at Fivestone are.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

I’m a developer for whatever Fivestone needs developed (or fixed), which ranges from building games and 3D interactives all the way to the back ends of the web. And while that does require a little bit of knowledge in the programming world, ultimately if I have seen further than others, it is only by standing on the backs of the giants before me (typically through google searches). Past that, I enjoy helping people get whatever tasks they’re working on, finished… which usually involves me carrying something.

GOALS FOR THE FUTURE?

Current dream:
To be one of the best Olympic Weightlifters in the Nation.
Persistent goals:
To continue to learn and grow each day.
To make a difference in someones life.
